AudioCodes – Block nuisance inbound calls

This post explains an easy way to block nuisance callers using an AudioCodes SBC. Whilst it’s possible to use New-CsInboundBlockedNumberPattern with Microsoft Teams, what if another type of PBX or Contact Centre hooked up to your SBC? These calls would bypass the Teams rule. Maybe you just want to do your blocking closer to the SIP carrier which is completely acceptable. I’m achieving this by using AudioCodes Dial Plans which are a super efficient way of routing calls rather than having lots of IP-to-IP rules or Number Manipulations. ...

Microsoft Teams – "Error we can't edit this Call Queue"

Problem Whilst trying to make changes to a Call Queue in Microsoft Teams Admin Center I received the error “We can’t edit this Call Queue”. Unfortunately TAC didn’t give me any extra information as to why I couldn’t Save the CQ. A quick search online returned only two posts that were not the solution. Solution One of the existing users in the CQ had been disabled for Enterprise Voice. Once I removed that use from the CQ I could save changes via TAC. ...

Microsoft Teams – Installing PowerShell Preview / Beta Modules (Manage Private Channels)

The Public Preview and Beta modules are useful for testing new features, i.e. managing Private Channel users (Get-TeamChannelUser, Add-TeamChannelUser etc) Installing Beta Module Microsoft documentation used to point you to the poshtestgallery.com to get the module. This has now been replaced by the Preview Module however some MS documentation (i.e. Get-TeamChannelUser) still references Posh Test Gallery. Get-TeamChannelUser advises to use PoshTestGallery. PoshTestGallery.com If you try to install a module from Posh Test Gallery you will get the following error: ...

Enabling credential delegation for NTLM on host machine. The installation hangs whilst running “Enabling credential delegation for NTLM on host machine.” This fix is actually posted in the Q&A here: https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/lync/Step-by-Step-Configure-23d8cd42/view/Discussions although the original poster does not confirm if the solution worked. I can confirm it does work. ...

Skype for Business Server – Fabric Logs Consuming Disk Space (Script)

You may notice that your Skype for Business Front End server consumes a lot of disk space and the culprit will either be: C:\ProgramData\Windows Fabric\Log (SfB 2015) or C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\SF\Log (SfB 2019) This is caused by Windows Fabric log growth and can be rectified by either: Increase disk space Limit how long Fabric Logs are kept (default 3 days) This post shows how to do option 2 manually in SfB 2015: https://myhybridsetup.org/skype-for-business-2015-limit-fabric-tracing-logs-growth/ ...

Skype for Business – RIP Exchange Unified Messaging

Microsoft have stated that they would retire Exchange Online UM on 28th February 2020 and it would be replaced by Cloud Voicemail. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/skypeforbusiness/plan/exchange-unified-messaging-online-migration-support This morning at 2:51am (29th Feb) we received the following email from Office 365 Message Centre. Ensure you have configured the Cloud Voicemail prereqs. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/skypeforbusiness/hybrid/plan-cloud-voicemail. One of the main requirements is a SfB Hybrid which was not required for Exchange Online UM integration. It’s still not clear what has happened to customers who have not done this. Does CVM work without a Hybrid? ...

Skype for Business Server – Cloud Voicemail Configuration – Tenant or TenantID?

To configure Cloud Voicemail, you should follow this guide from Microsoft: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/skypeforbusiness/hybrid/configure-cloud-voicemail Before I started writing this post, I knew that -Tenant should be -TenantID in SfBs 2019 (TenantID = Your Office 365 TenantID). I have successfully configured customers with CVM using this method. When trying to get a screenshot from a working environment -TenantID was missing! Doing some further investigation it looks like the latest SfBs 2019 CU removes -TenantID (and even -Tenant) from the Set/New-CsHostedVoicemailPolicy cmdlet. ...

Skype for Business Server – Script – Check if migrated to Cloud Voicemail

There doesn’t appear to be any obvious way to check if you have been migrated from Exchange Online UM to Cloud Voicemail in O365, other than calling your Voicemail box and checking to see if the announcement is different. I have been through various settings in O365 Remote PowerShell for different customers and can’t find anything concrete (Sorry SfBo customers). SfB Server customers can use the Skype for Business Monitoring Reports to identify if users have been migrated. Calls diverted to Voicemail will show RTCC/7.0.0.0 LyncTeamsGateway/1.1.319.0 rather than RTCC/5.0.0.0 MSExchangeUM/15.20.2686.025. But that’s not very fun, so here is a script to do it for you: ...

Microsoft Teams – A real world use for Islands Mode with a SfB Contact Centre?

Scenario: Customer wants to migrate to Teams, but they have a Contact Centre (CC) / Call Recording solution attached to their Skype for Business Server (SfBs) environment. They can’t migrate the CC to Teams yet as there isn’t a feature parity solution that works with Teams. They are happy with their current CC solution so plan to leave their CC users on SfBs and migrate everyone else to Teams Only mode. ...
